Guitar lessons for beginners
Yes, I teach complete beginners — including people who have never held a guitar. Your first lesson is free, so you can try it before you commit. We start with a song you actually want to play, and I show you the few habits that make the rest come easier.
Do I need any experience to start?
No. Beginners are exactly who these lessons are built for. If you have never played a note, that is a fine place to start.
The only thing that matters is that you are ready to practice a little between lessons. That is what turns a first lesson into real playing.
What will I learn in the first few lessons?
We start with the music you want to play, not a stack of drills. From there I set up a handful of technique exercises that give you a strong foundation.
Those early habits keep paying off. The more you practice them, the easier everything after gets. You leave each lesson knowing the one or two things to work on before the next one.
Do I need my own guitar?
You will want a guitar to practice on between lessons, since practice is where the progress happens. Acoustic or electric is fine to begin with — we can talk through it on the free call if you are not sure what to get.
Online or in person for beginners?
Both work well for beginners. Online lessons run from anywhere over video, and all you need is a guitar and a device with a camera. In person, lessons happen around Virginia and the DC area and are arranged by phone.
Lessons run 30 or 60 minutes, whichever fits your attention span and schedule. Online is $30 and $60; in person is $40 and $70. A monthly plan is available, and the first lesson costs nothing.
